Steal An Egg Upgrades: Pen, Treadmill & Equip Slots

Checked in-game 3 Oct 2026 Updated 4 Oct 2026

This guide covers three Steal An Egg upgrades that matter later on: the pen upgrade, extra equip slots and the treadmill upgrade. They all cost a lot of Cash, so it helps to know which one to save for first. Below you'll find what each upgrade costs, how to get it and when it's worth buying.

The three upgrades at a glance

These are the costs I saw at my point in the game:

  • Upgrade Pen: $500B for Level 6 > Level 7
  • +1 EQUIP: $500B for one extra equip slot
  • Upgrade Treadmill: 499 Robux or $2T Cash

You can pay for all three with Cash. The treadmill can also be bought with Robux, but you never have to. Saving Cash works fine.

For a sense of scale, I had $437.4B at the time. That still wasn't enough for a $500B upgrade. Expect to save for a while.

How to upgrade your pen

Your pen is where your eggs and pets go. It has a limit. Once it's full, the game shows a 'Your pen is Full!' warning and you can't place any more eggs or pets.

To upgrade it:

  1. Collect Cash from your pets until you have enough for the next level.
  2. Open the Upgrade Pen prompt.
  3. Check the level shown. Mine read Level 6 > Level 7.
  4. Check the price. Level 6 to 7 cost $500B.
  5. Confirm the upgrade.

When the pen upgrade is worth it

Get the pen upgrade first if you keep seeing the 'Your pen is Full!' warning. A full pen stops you placing new eggs or pets, so any new eggs you steal or hatch have nowhere to go.

If your pen still has room, you don't need to rush it. Spend on something that helps you right now instead.

How to add equip slots

The Equipped Pets panel shows how many pets you have active. Mine showed 13/13 Active, so every slot was in use. Each slot has an Unequip button.

To add a slot:

  1. Open the Equipped Pets panel.
  2. Find the +1 EQUIP button.
  3. Check the price. It was $500B.
  4. Press it to buy one more slot.

Once you have a new slot, fill it fast:

  1. Stay on the Equipped Pets panel.
  2. Press Equip Best.
  3. The game equips your best pets for you.

Press Equip Best again whenever you hatch a better pet. Then you don't have to swap pets one at a time.

When an extra equip slot is worth it

An extra slot is most worth it when all your slots are full and you have strong pets sitting unused in your inventory. If those spare pets are weak, one more slot won't help much.

Both the pen and +1 EQUIP cost $500B, so you'll usually pick one first. Here's a simple way to choose:

  • Pen is full? Upgrade the pen first, or you can't place new eggs or pets.
  • Pen has room and all equip slots are full? Get +1 EQUIP.

Your pets inventory limit

Your pets inventory has a cap of 250 pets. Mine showed Pets: 82/250.

The inventory counter shows how close you are to the 250 cap

Keep an eye on this number as you hatch more eggs. The inventory has a search box, and each pet is listed with its weight in Kg, so you can find the pets you're looking for quickly.

How to upgrade the treadmill

You train on the treadmill to gain Speed. My Speed was 2.2B at this stage.

To upgrade it:

  1. Find the Upgrade Treadmill prompt.
  2. Choose how to pay: 499 Robux or $2T Cash.
  3. Confirm the upgrade.
Upgrade Treadmill costs 499 Robux or $2T Cash

At $2T, this is the most expensive of the three upgrades if you pay with Cash. It's a long-term goal.

When the treadmill upgrade is worth it

Leave the treadmill until your pen has room and your best pets are equipped. Those upgrades help you place and use your pets. The treadmill upgrade costs four times as much Cash as either of them.

You don't need Robux for the treadmill. You can save up the $2T Cash. To see what the Robux speed pass does, read Steal An Egg Game Passes: Prices & Are They Worth It?

A simple upgrade order

  1. Upgrade Pen as soon as you see 'Your pen is Full!'.
  2. +1 EQUIP when all your slots are full and you have good spare pets. Then press Equip Best.
  3. Upgrade Treadmill once you've saved $2T Cash.
